Connecticut Photographer Jake Wyman Corporate Stock Editorial Annual Advertising Stock Photography

Born in 1956 in Western Massachusetts, Jake Wyman has always had the urge to explore the remote and sometimes desolate places in the world.

A passion for photography, which was discovered at the age of 20, initially provided the impetus to pursue a BFA in photography at Ohio University, and later an excuse to travel around the world and share, through his photographs, the incredible people he had met and the spectacular landscapes he had seen.

An important early "road trip" from Hoboken, New Jersey to Denali National Park in Alaska-by way of the American and Canadian Rockies-and the resulting images, which were used by Maersk in their annual calendar, confirmed that this was indeed a viable way to fund future "adventures". Thirteen images were used in the calendar, with the balance sent to stock agencies for future royalties.

Each year, after meeting with the client, another 4-6 week trip was fit into the schedule to provide new images for their calendar. Some of the more beautiful and breathtaking destinations which were photographed are the dramatic island of Nuku Hiva in French Polynesia, the misty Huangshan Mountain's in China, the grand Torres del Paine in Patagonia, the Okavango Delta in Botswana, the majestic summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the mighty Amazon River in Brazil and the barren Skeleton Coast in Namibia.

(The trip up the Amazon and Rio Negro Rivers resulted in the photograph which was used on the cover of John Grisham's book "The Testament", and an image from the trip to the Huangshan Mountains won a first prize in the Banff Mountain Film Festival.)

Jake's travel work has been published in many international and domestic publications including Condè Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Geo, Outside , and National Geographic Adventure . It has also been been licensed by numerous book publishers, design firms and advertising agencies. What's more, his photography for international corporate clients has taken him around the world for such clients as MAERSK SEALAND, ALCOA/HOWMET, PIMCO/ALLIANZ, BANK OF AMERICA, NOVARTIS, PITNEY BOWES and others.
